Dubbed “The Black Sundance,” the Hollywood Black Film Festival (HBFF) is an annual 4-day celebration of Black Cinema drawing together established filmmakers, popular film and TV stars, writers, directors, industry executives, emerging artists, and diverse audiences from Southern California and around the world. HBFF’s INFOTAINMENT CONFERENCE features a wealth of informational panels and workshops covering a wide variety of topics which include: film production, distribution and marketing, pitching, writing for television and film, in addition to specific programs designed to inform and educate actors.

Chairperson and CEO

As Chairperson and CEO of Tri Destined Studios, N.D. Brown oversees business and legal affairs, corporate structure and strategic planning, and green-lights projects for Tri Destined Studios (founded in 1998) and its subsidiary companies. Ms. Brown has produced over 100 multimedia productions and is extremely dedicated to providing employment opportunities to minorities and women who are often underrepresented in the entertainment industry and exposing this same talent to an awaiting global audience.

Her most recent Film and Television achievements include producing the HBFF Opening Night Film, “Note to Self” (starring Christian Keyes, Richard T. Jones, LeToya Luckett, Brian McKnight, Eva Marcille, Clifton Powel and Valarie Pettiford); Executive Producing and Show Running GMC TV and Swirl Films’ first scripted television series “She’s Still Not My Sister” (starring Kellita Smith and Jackee Harry) derived from GMC’s record-breaking teleplay “She’s Not Our Sister” which helmed as the top rated show in GMC network history; Executive Producing “The Perfect Gift” (starring Ruben Studdard and Golden Brooks); Producing “Perfect Combination” (starring Christian Keyes), “Lord All Men Can’t Be Dogs” (starring Vivica A. Fox), “He’s Mine, Not Yours” (starring Gabrielle Dennis and Wendy Raquel Robinson); and a plethora of other productions which have broadcasted on BET, GMC TV, Oxygen, Bounce TV and other ancillary distribution platforms.

Ms. Brown has also produced several community outreach and social awareness projects that she holds dear, including “The Call”, which received critical acclaim for tackling and exposing the torments of AIDS; the Art House Film, “Why Am I Doing This?” (starring Anthony Montgomery, Tom Huang, Obba Babatunde, Valarie Pettiford, Clyde Katasu and Gerry Bednob) exploring how Asians, African-Americans and other minorities break through the glass ceiling in Hollywood; “The Inner City Destiny Awards” which shines light on the accomplishments of our inner city communities; and the Black Educational Events’ Televised HBCU Sporting Event, “The Angel City Classic”, held at the Los Angeles Coliseum to over 80,000 stadium fans and 8 million Fox Sports TV Viewers.

Under the helm of Tri Destined Casting, Ms. Brown also partnered with Image Entertainment and David E. Talbert to cast a series of filmed play productions for the BET Network including “Suddenly Single” (starring Isaiah Washington, Garcelle Beauvais), “A Fool and His Money” (starring Michael Beach), “What Comes Around Goes Around” (starring Reagan Gomez Preston, Wesley Jonathan and Tony Rock).

Her upcoming productions include “We Are Family” (starring Monique Coleman of High School Musical fame); a highly anticipated “Untitled Sports Biopic” she is set to produce with Barry Katz and Jason Blum (Producer of Paranormal Activity); “Sorors” TV series created by Fred Thomas Jr.; and “Drill Team”, a dance film optioned by Rouge/Relativity, which she is set to produce with Tri Destined executives, Trey Haley (Co-Founder, President), Greg Anderson (TDF President, writer/creator Stomp The Yard) and Veronica Nichols (TDS VP, Production and Development).

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Abraham and Sallie J. Brown, N.D. Brown holds a MBA from Florida A&M University and studied international affairs at the renowned Institute de Catholique de Paris in France. During her undergraduate studies at Florida A&M University, Ms. Brown pledged the Beta Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated founded in 1913. Throughout her matriculation in Hollywood, N.D. Brown has been featured in The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Upscale Magazine, and other top industry publications for her career achievements. N.D. Brown and Trey Haley founded Tri Destined Studios: Hollywood’s Premiere African-American owned Production and Distribution Studio, in 1998. (née: Nikaya Dwana Brown)
