Dubbed “The Black Sundance,” the Hollywood Black Film Festival (HBFF) is an annual 4-day celebration of Black Cinema drawing together established filmmakers, popular film and TV stars, writers, directors, industry executives, emerging artists, and diverse audiences from Southern California and around the world. HBFF’s INFOTAINMENT CONFERENCE features a wealth of informational panels and workshops covering a wide variety of topics which include: film production, distribution and marketing, pitching, writing for television and film, in addition to specific programs designed to inform and educate actors.

MICHAEL R. BLAHA is an entertainment attorney and film and stage producer.   Mike’s film producing credits include the features Chi Girl, (Grand Jury Prize, Slamdance Film Festival), runt (Honorable Mention, Best New Director, L.A. Pan African Film Festival), Tropicalia (Best Editing, Art Direction and Music Direction, Unasur Film Festival) and the short film The Legend of Beaver Dam, which won numerous Best Short awards, including an Honorable Mention for Best Short at Sundance and Best Horror Short at Sitges, Austin, and Screamfest. Theater producing credits include the New York Fringe Best Musical Winner, Bukowsical!, the LA Weekly Best Musical Nominee Job: The Hip-Hopera, the LA Weekly Best Musical Winner Hoboken to Hollywood and numerous other productions in Los Angeles, Chicago, and London.  Mike’s company, Fringe Management, LLC, has produced over 35 shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe since 2001, including This Is So Not About The Simpsons, (Harry Shearer), runt (Fringe First, Sony Radio Academy Award for Best Drama with the BBC), Sabotage: In Fine Form (Perrier Best Newcomer Nominee) and the critically acclaimed, sellout show Pajama Men: The Last Stand to Reason (subsequently produced at the Soho Theatre in London, where it broke box office records; Times Double Act of the Year). Mike is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law at Southwestern University School of Law, where he teaches Financing and Distributing Independent Film and he is the President of the Academy for New Musical Theater and on the Board of Directors of Filmmakers’ Alliance.
